Live polls from your phone
Ask your audience a question. Show the results when you choose.
Live polls in PresEngage are questions you write ahead, send to your audience from your phone one at a time, and watch the answers arrive. Choose multiple choice, open text, or multiple choice with an Other box. Your audience sees results when you choose to show them, and everyone keeps asking your AI Co-Presenter as usual.

What You Get
Three Question Types
Multiple choice with 2 to 6 answers, open text, or multiple choice with an Other box for answers in their own words.
You Choose When Results Show
Results stay hidden until you press Show results -- or, if you turned on automatic results, until you close the question.
Nothing to Install
Nothing for your audience to install on the web Q&A page; in Google Meet and Zoom it appears in the PresEngage side panel.
Themes From Written Answers
From 5 written answers, ask for an AI summary of themes, then share them without quoting anyone.
A Record Afterwards
Push results lists your newest 100 questions with their tallies, so you can look back after the talk.
The Chat Keeps Working
Nobody is blocked from asking your AI Co-Presenter while a question is open, and answering is always optional.
Simple Setup, Powerful Results
- 1
Write Your Questions
In the create wizard, open Choose Presenter Tools and add multiple-choice or open-text questions. In the app, this is called Questions to push.
- 2
Send From Your Phone
On your phone, press Open remote on your presentation's card in Your Presentations. The Presenter remote lists your questions: press Send next to one. One question is open at a time.
- 3
Show the Results
Press Close, then Show results when you want your audience to see them. Nothing reaches them before that unless you turned on automatic results.
The room asks you. Now you ask the room.
Your audience keeps asking your AI Co-Presenter, and answering your question is always optional. In the app the three question types are called Multiple choice, Open text (a box labelled Your answer) and Multiple choice + Other, which adds an Other box so people can answer in their own words. Answers go straight to you: they do not go through the AI, and they do not reach your Messaging Center, Audience Insights or the Download participants file.
Where it works
The questions you send reach the people on your Q&A page, and the people in the PresEngage side panel in Google Meet and Zoom.
The web Q&A page, on every plan. People who open your link or scan your QR code see a card labelled Question from the presenter, pinned above the chat box.
The Google Meet side panel and the Zoom side panel, on plans with the panel. Present In-Person does not include the panels. People pick an answer and press Send answer.
Not available by text message or WhatsApp. Attendees who text their questions in through the optional pay-per-use add-on for in-person rooms do not receive the questions you send.
Results when you choose
Answers come to you first. Your audience sees nothing until you decide.
Hidden until you show them
Nothing reaches your audience until you press Show results for that question, unless you turned on Show results automatically when I close it. That switch is off until you turn it on.
Percentages for your audience
You see counts and percentages for each option. Your audience sees percentages and the total only, and nothing at all until 5 answers exist: before that they see Results appear after 5 answers.
Summaries without quotes
From 5 written answers, press Summarize for an AI summary grouped into themes, then Share themes to show them, labelled AI summary of answers. Themes only, never quotes. Email addresses and phone numbers are removed before the AI reads the answers.
The limits, in numbers
What you can write, send and keep, exactly as the app enforces it.
- Up to 50 questions per presentation, 200 characters each.
- Multiple choice has 2 to 6 answers of up to 80 characters each.
- Written answers can be up to 500 characters.
- One question is open at a time, and each person has one answer they can change until it closes.
- Results need at least 5 answers, and the AI summary needs at least 5 written answers.
- A question you forget about closes itself after 10 minutes.
- Push results lists your newest 100 questions, with up to the newest 100 written answers for each.
- There is no export of results in this version.
- Answers do not reach the Messaging Center, Audience Insights, Zapier or the Download participants file.
- The remote needs at least one saved question, and only the presentation's owner can open it.
- Not for binding votes, or for anything where a second answer from the same person would matter: the name an attendee types at sign-up is not verified.
What it is not
- No quizzes, scores or leaderboards.
- No rankings, ratings or multi-select questions.
- No word clouds.
- No moderation: you see written answers as people typed them.
- No delivery through the optional pay-per-use add-on for text message or WhatsApp.
- No reward for answering, and no use as a way to collect reviews or testimonials.
Add a question to your next talk
Start free, then write your questions under Choose Presenter Tools. You send them from your phone when the moment comes.
A dedicated polling tool, or live polls from your phone?
Polling tools ask your audience. PresEngage answers them, and now asks back. It completes the loop and replaces no one: pick the tool that matches what you need.
| Choose a dedicated polling tool when you need | Choose live polls from your phone when you want |
|---|---|
| Quizzes, scores, leaderboards or rankings | Plain multiple-choice or open-text questions, with no scoring |
| Word clouds or rating scales | Written answers grouped into themes by an AI summary, from 5 answers |
| Several questions open at once, or a timed round | One question at a time, closed by you or after 10 minutes |
| Results you take away as a file | Results shown to your audience when you choose, and a list of your newest 100 questions afterwards |
| A session that is only polls | Your audience's questions answered by your AI Co-Presenter from your own slides, with the questions you send beside them |

In Zoom and Google Meet
Live polls you send from your phone work in Zoom and Google Meet too: they appear in the PresEngage side panel for the people who opened it. Those attendees pick an answer and press Send answer, and you see their answers on the same Presenter remote, counted apart from the people on your Q&A page.
Answers from the panels reach you without a name on every presentation, because a side panel cannot confirm who is typing. Free and trial accounts, Present Online and Present Everywhere include the side panels; Present In-Person does not.
Set up the panels on the Zoom Q&A page or the Google Meet Q&A page.
Next to Smart Prompt
Smart Prompt nudges the attendees who have not asked anything yet. The questions you send ask the whole audience something you wrote. On the Choose Presenter Tools tab your questions sit right next to Smart Prompt, so you can use both in one talk.
Meanwhile your audience keeps asking, and the AI Co-Presenter keeps answering from your own slides. See how your audience joins, what they asked in Audience Intelligence, or the plans.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I ask my audience a question during my talk?
Write your questions ahead of time on the Choose Presenter Tools tab, then open the Presenter remote on your phone with Open remote and press Send next to a question. It appears above the chat box on your audience's Q&A page. You can also type a question on the spot with + Ask a new question, once you have saved at least one question.
Do the answers go through my AI Co-Presenter?
No. Answers go straight to you. They do not go through your AI Co-Presenter, do not appear in your Messaging Center and do not count as conversations. Answering is optional, and your audience's chat keeps working.
Can I see who answered?
Not for multiple-choice answers: you see counts and percentages. On the web Q&A page a written answer shows the name the attendee gave, unless Anonymous questions is on for that presentation. Answers from the Google Meet and Zoom side panels never show a name.
Who sees the results, and when?
You see counts and percentages for each option, and the written answers, as they come in. Your audience sees nothing until you press Show results for that question, or until you close it if you turned on Show results automatically when I close it. They see percentages and the total only, and nothing at all until 5 answers exist.
What is the Presenter remote? Do I need an app?
It is a web page built for your phone, opened with Open remote on your presentation's card, so there is nothing to install. It shows Live or Offline, how many people are connected on the web and in the Google Meet and Zoom side panels, the list called Your questions with Send next to each one, the tally under Open question, and Close.
Why does my phone say it is offline and reconnecting?
Your phone lost its connection. The remote turns its buttons off until it has caught up and reconnects on its own; an open question stays open. If it cannot reach the live service at all, it shows a notice, and your audience's chat with your AI Co-Presenter is not affected.
Can I get a summary of written answers?
Yes. After you close a question that has at least 5 written answers, press Summarize for an AI summary grouped into themes. Press Share themes to show them to your audience, after you press Show results. Shared summaries carry themes only, never quotes. Email addresses and phone numbers are removed before the AI reads the answers.
What happens if fewer than 5 people answer?
Your audience sees "Results appear after 5 answers" and no numbers, and Summarize stays off with "Available from 5 answers." You still see every answer on your remote.
Does it work in Google Meet and Zoom?
Yes, on plans that include the Google Meet and Zoom side panels (Present In-Person does not). The question appears in the PresEngage side panel, and people answer from the panel by pressing Send answer. The remote counts people on the web, in Meet and in Zoom separately.
Can my audience answer by text message or WhatsApp?
No, not in this version. The questions you send reach the web Q&A page and the Google Meet and Zoom side panels. Attendees who text their questions in through the optional pay-per-use add-on for in-person rooms receive nothing and are not counted in Reached, but they can still open your Q&A page in a browser and answer there.
How many questions can I write, and how long can they be?
Up to 50 questions per presentation, 200 characters each. Multiple choice has 2 to 6 answers of up to 80 characters. Written answers can be up to 500 characters. One question is open at a time, and each person has one answer they can change until it closes.
Where do I find the results after the talk?
Press Push results on your presentation's card. It lists your newest 100 questions, grouped by session, each with its final tally, up to the newest 100 written answers, its summary if you made one, and whether you showed the results to your audience.
Are the answers in my Messaging Center or the participants file?
No. They are kept with the presentation, separately from chat conversations, and do not trigger follow-up emails. They do not reach Audience Insights, Zapier or the Download participants file either. Deleting the presentation yourself deletes them; an automatic archive or deletion keeps them, as it keeps conversations.
Does it cost extra?
No. Live polls from your phone are on every plan at no extra cost, free included. In the Google Meet and Zoom side panels they follow your plan's channels.
Can I see who answered on Meet or Zoom?
No. Answers from the side panels show without names on every presentation, because a side panel cannot confirm who is typing.
Is this a polling tool like Slido or Mentimeter?
Partly. It is live polling from your phone, and it does one job: you write multiple-choice or open-text questions ahead of time, send them one at a time, and choose when your audience sees the results. It is not a full polling tool. There are three question types, one question open at a time, and no quizzes, scores, leaderboards, rankings, multi-select questions, word clouds or ratings. If you need those, use a dedicated polling tool. What PresEngage adds is the question you ask, beside the questions your audience asks, on the page they already have open.
